NewPay Launch: Our Story and Mission
Every business owner knows the sting of payment processing fees. That 1–1.5% taken from every card transaction doesn't sound like much — until you do the maths at the end of the year.
The Problem We Saw
Australian merchants collectively pay billions in payment processing fees every year. For a small cafe processing $40,000 a month, that's $4,800–$7,200 annually in fees alone. For a busy retail store doing $100,000 monthly, it's $12,000–$18,000. These aren't abstract numbers — they're the difference between hiring an extra staff member, investing in the business, or simply keeping the lights on.
The Insight
We noticed something interesting: the payment terminal screen sits idle most of the day. When it is in use, customers are staring right at it, waiting for their transaction to process. What if that screen real estate could be put to work — generating enough revenue to subsidise the merchant's processing costs?
The Solution
NewPay displays sponsored brand advertising on payment terminals. Brands pay for this premium, captive-audience placement. That advertising revenue directly subsidises the merchant's processing fee, cutting it from the typical 1–1.5% down to just 0.55%.
No catch. No complicated pricing tiers. No lock-in contracts. Just a straightforward deal: we show ads on your terminal, and your processing fees get cut in half. With surcharging, your net processing cost can be zero.
Where We Are Today
We launched in Sydney and are growing across Australia. Hundreds of merchants are already saving thousands annually. Our advertising partners include recognised brands who value reaching customers at the point of purchase.
Our Mission
Making payment processing affordable for every Australian business. That's it. We believe that the cost of accepting card payments shouldn't be a significant expense for small and medium businesses. By leveraging advertising revenue, we've found a way to make that a reality.
If you're a merchant paying too much in processing fees, we'd love to help. If you're a brand looking for a new way to reach consumers, let's talk.
